Treating high blood sugar levels and elevated cholesterol
I see a number of folk who are overweight and suffer from
what is termed insulin resistance, which leads to
elevated blood sugar levels.
Often high cholesterol is also implicated.
With the current controversy surrounding the side
effects of statin medications used to lower cholesterol
it might be worthwhile trying other remedies. These
include:
- Cinnamon
1—6 grms daily has been shown to lower
blood glucose as well as cholesterol including
triglycerides and LDL.
- Fenugreek 15grms in soaked
water has also been shown to lower blood glucose.
- The herbs bitter melon and
gymnema together with chromium, vanadium and alpha-lipoic
acid have the ability to make insulin more effective
and reduce blood sugar levels.
