Alpha-lipoic acid for burning
mouth syndrome
Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) a powerful antioxidant often
mentioned on this site and found in Neurazest (see New
Product Launch and download the scientific report) has
been found to effectively manage burning mouth syndrome
a condition associated with chronic pain located to the
tongue found mostly in postmenopausal women. A study
found that 74 % of those subjects who received this
medication at a dose of 200mg 3 times daily for 4 months
experienced significant improvements while 13% enjoyed
complete resolution of their symptoms. It was also noted
that after twelve months 73% of those who persisted with
their treatment sustained ongoing reduction in their
symptoms.
ALA has been used to manage
different types of neuropathies including diabetic
neuropathy and it is though that burning mouth syndrome
constitutes another form of neuropathy.
