Dietary management of rheumatoid
arthritis
Dr Melvyn Werbach international nutritional expert has a
dietary protocol for managing rheumatoid arthritis. This includes reducing certain fats such as those found in
dairy products, red meat and margarines, adopting a
predominantly vegetarian or even vegan style of eating
with fish being the preferred form of animal protein.
Food sensitivities/allergies need
to be investigated as these are thought to lead to a
condition known as intestinal permeability or ‘leaky
gut.’ The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
medications is though to exacerbated this condition.
Fasting and elimination diets have been found to
relieve symptoms without the need for any treatments.
