1. Is cosamin DS vitamin beneficial for spinal stenosis?

2. I am starting to get "liver spots" especially on my hands, and am wary of chemical creams. Are there any natural treatments that you could recommend as effective?

3. I have been sick for four months now. A week after a very big new year’s eve I started feeling nauseous and all of a sudden had sensitivities to food. I also developed reflux and stomach pains. I saw a gastroenterologist, had an endoscopy (revealed no abnormalities besides mild acid reflux). I was then prescribed antacids. They have taken away all stomach problems but for the last 3 months I have been constantly dizzy & disorientated. I have poor concentration, a very foggy mind & at times am overwhelmingly tired. At times my vision becomes blurry and I get almost mild hallicinations, whereby my judgement of distance and colours becomes muddled up. What does this sound like to you? I have done so much reasearch it's driving me crazy. One week I'm sure I have CMV, the next EB & now I'm wondering if I have candida overgrowth syndrome. I take it you are a doctor  who believes in candida? If so, in your opinion do I have it & what should I do. I desperately want to get better so I can get on with Life. !
I can hardly bare working even shopping in this state!! Any help would be very much appreciated!!

4. I have been taking Avapro 300mg for about a year now. The blood pressure has stabilised, mostly between130/85. Lately I am taking it twice a day, 150 in the morning and night.  2/3 hours after taking it, I get a leg pain shooting down mostly on my left leg, but at night on both legs. I wake up in the middle of the night with severe pain, and can't sleep more than 3 hours a night for the last 7 months. Would there be a connection between Avapro and the pain? Is there anything you could advise as this would be much appreciated.

5. What causes constant gas in the head with burping sensations?  Upon massaging the areas it relieves the pain and also causes burping.  I have had this for several years and the doctors say they have never heard of it.

6. I am taking enbrel (my second month) for RA. I want to start taking moducare, as I want to regulate my immune system. Is this recommended? my rheumatologist hasn't heard of moducare. I also read that Nettle leaf extract has the same effect as enbrel, it is a TNF inhibitor. What is your opinion?

7. Where can I buy a very good HGH product?

8. Where can I find information on how to treat graves disease?  I have two friends that have this disease.  The first one has already had radiation to destroy her thyroid.  The second is starting treatments soon.  Could glyconutrients be of some help for either or both of them?  Do you know of any cases like these that have used them?

9. I have always been underweight my whole life. I actually weight 107 lbs (5.4 ft). I would like to gain 20 more pounds. All diet programs are to help lose weight. I look scrawny and find it difficult to find clothes that fit me well. I wear a size 0. Can you please tell me if there is anything I can take to help me gain more weight?
I have to add that I have a poor appetite.

10. I have read your book, after being recommended by my Dr in Imbil. Are there any GPs in Townsville, Australia who do the testing that you recommend? I have asked Belrowes, who did, but they are not taking more patients.

11. It's my pleasure to introduce you a brand new process / production method that yields non-toxic 2-deoxy-d-glucose, P-2DG.

1. You say that cortisol causes leptin resistance.  I find that very interesting and I was wondering if you could direct me to research that demonstrates this.

2.I have read both your book, ‘Eternal Health’, and ‘Eat Right for your Blood Type’.  My questions are: in Eat Right for your Blood Type (I am O positive) it says that I should avoid cabbage and cauliflower and eat red meat. Firstly your book recommends that these vegetables contain essential vitamins and minerals to assist in all sort of things - what can I eat that will replace these and give the same effect?  It also recommends that I eat red meat (I prefer a vegetarian diet) - what do I substitute the meat with?

3.I've purchased and wish to start taking Neurazest for tinnitus but am concerned with possible interactions with other pharmaceutical medications that I am taking for other conditions.  I'm taking OXYNORM, TRITACE, STILNOX and EZETROL.  Is Neurazest able to be taken in combination without any adverse affects?

4.1.What is your opinion about Nutritional Supplementations?

5. After 12 years of remission if have Grave’s disease again.  I have lost my sex drive and wonder whether this is linked?

6. I have been diagnosed with inflammation of the lower oesophagus which first occurred in June of 2004.  Xanax and Nexium were prescribed.  In January of this year I developed a condition whereby my tongue felt hot, as if I could breath fire.  Is this also a symptom of heartburn, or acid reflux, or Barretts oesophagitis?  Nexium does not seem to help much.  What foods, or herbs could I be consuming as alternates to prescriptions?

7. I was diagnosed with primary vestibulitis some time ago, though it's believed I have had it for years.  I only discovered it upon first attempt at intercourse when I married.  My husband and I have tried a variety of treatments and are now considering surgery.  We cannot have intercourse due to the pain and it's very sad to live in a sex-less marriage.  Recently I was also diagnosed as a celiac with a gluten intolerance.  Thus, I will begin a gluten-free diet.  Have you ever heard of a connection between celiac sprue and vestibulitis or gastrointestinal disorders related to vestibulitis?  I'm wondering if a gluten-free diet might also affect my chronic vaginal yeast problems and ultimately my vestibulitis as well.

8. I am concerned about some hair loss I have been having.  I had a baby in May of last year, then was told I had cervical cancer. I had a hysteroscopy with a DNC in July. Then had a hysterectomy in Sept. I received a good pap test so I was told I did not need in further treatment except regular pap test every 3 to 4 months for awhile. So why is my hair falling out?

9. I recently had a highly sensitive C reactive Protein test done. My results were 36.6mg/l  in January and the repeat test results were 26.2mg/l. What does this mean? I had this test done in conjunction with other tests (hormonal tests) Should I check this out further? I have migraine headaches and the doctor said the increased levels of HS-CRP could be from this.  I need advice on what to do.

1.I have been taking the contraceptive pill dianette for my acne for about 3 years now. I have heard people say it is dangerous to be on dianette longer than 18 months but others say it is fine and no different to any other contraceptive pill. Is this true or should I try another pill for my acne which has cleared up but comes back when I stop taking dianette.  I also use it for contraception.

2. Can you get pregnant by taking plan B and by taking both pills at the same time?

3. For some years now I have suffered neck pain which induces awful headaches which can go on for days. I have had all sorts of treatments and nothing has really helped. The muscles at the back of the neck are always sore.  Now over the last six months I have started to get ear pain. (like an intermittent shooting pain) My ears sound continually like they are in a 'power station' with this constant ringing. There are also times when I feel an intense pressure in my face and head and it becomes quite flushed and thumps,  (often when I get up off a chair) my ears are louder then also. (I have a normal blood pressure.)  I am wondering whether the cause of my neck problems is also now causing the others.
I work on a computer (10 years) but am always very aware of my posture.

4. I wish to slow down the aging process by laser or some method of plastic surgery, who and what do you recommend?

5. About 3 years ago I lost 200 pounds (91 kilos) - and this is great, with the exception of the sagging skin and stretch marks.  I have spent a fortune on laser treatments which have faded my stretch marks, somewhat, but I am still left with substantial skin sagging.  I have visited a plastic surgeon and had a quote of around $40,000 to have the skin removed but was told that this would not guarantee good results, and also I would be left with a lot of serious scarring.  I want to find a way to vastly improve my skin - and therefore this is my question.  Can DHEA, melatonin and HGH improve my skin sagging and scarring?  I cannot find anyone in NZ who deals with these, and so would need to find a way to use them if they would indeed be helpful.

6. I have just had an emergency total hysterectomy and have been given Estrofem to take, after reading all the side effects on the package insert I am a bit concerned about taking this therapy. Is there no other natural alternative?

7. I'm 7 months post partum and have been eating a low carbohydrate diet and exercising for 2 months and have not lost any weight.  My hair has been falling out for 6 months and I have acne all over my body.  I have had TSH, FT3, FT4, estrogen and progesterone tested along with sugar. These came back normal.  I'm taking supplements thinking that yeast may play a role because I was getting an infection every month right before my period.  This month I have not had a period yet and I have not had a yeast infection.  I had to take progesterone 2 months post partum to start menstruation.  I'm wondering if you know of anything that could be wrong with me.  I have tried it all and I feel like giving up.  My hair keeps getting thinner.  I'm so moody. I don't know what to do.  The levels of my TSH was .847, the FT4 was 1.1.

Or is there no harm in taking the diflucan?

1. I began taking Moducare (5 days ago) to calm inflammation and regulate my immune system. I have carpal tunnel and tendonitis of my elbow.  I also have diagnosed osteoarthritis in a few (areas ankle, knee and spine).  Since I've taken Moducare my symptoms almost seem worse.  Is this the norm? Additionally, though my blood pressure had always been in the range of 112/73, the last couple of readings since I began taking Moducare (actually just today) it has been 122/90.  Does Moducare raise blood pressure and if so, should I discontinue?  I do not want to take a supplement that is harmful to me.

4. What can I do to heal/remove a fungal infection?  I have a brown/red rash on my chest, the first spots of which appeared a year ago and one of which is now slightly red and itchy.  I am certain I have candida in the pathological form you mention on your website.  I have been treating/fighting it off and on for many years, but it keeps recurring.  I rarely get thrush anymore but there is still a slight irritation in my vagina.  I'm definitely getting stomach bloating for the past month.   I have white coating on tongue.  I was diagnosed with RRMS in August 2001, which has connections with leaky gut.  I am not on any of the MS drugs but follow the Best Bet Diet, which consists mainly of veggies, poultry, fish and excludes red meat, dairy and suggests a saturated fat intake of 20g per day.  I eat no sugar or honey or caffeine.  I eat so carefully (and still find joy in it) but my body still doesn't get rid of the candida.  I would really appreciate your opinion.

5. I have a 19 year-old son who has had a medical condition for the last 18 months that I only found out about recently. He refuses to tell me what the problem is but I am very concerned whether he is getting proper medical advice and treatment as he says no treatment has so far worked.  It makes him depressed, feeling that life is not worth living and worries about the effects of the condition in his future.  I can only guess that he feels ashamed or embarrassed to tell me what it is even though I have assured him I would not think less of him.  I have found out he is taking a drug called Nexium HP7 followed by a course of regular penicillin.  The nexium is indicated for stomach, ulcers and helicobacter bacteria but when asked if this was what he had he says no and that his doctor is testing this drug on him as it has had some success on others with the same condition.  He also says it hasn’t made any difference with him and that nothing works. Could you suggest any conditions that nexium HP7 may be used for other than the usual.  I just want to make sure he is getting the best possible treatment.

2.I attended the Anti Aging Medicine Conference in Kuala Lumpur in May 2004 having practised most of the principles on my family and myself.  I am being employed by Midwest Murchison in West Australia from Feb 2005 as a Primary Health Nurse Practitioner (South African Qualifications) or Community Nurse in Australia and they have seen the application of healthy aging in my own life and wish me to run with a program towards healthy aging within the community.  I would like to know if you offer any recognized courses on behalf of the society, which I should undertake to complete in order to better equip myself for the work ahead?

1. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease in 2001. I take thyroid extract (pork derived). My levels of TSH, T3, T4 are all 'normal' according to blood tests but I still feel terrible. I have tinnitus (but no hearing problems), TMJ problems, I'm tired all the time, sensitive to loud noises, have a very low tolerance to any stressors etc. I have read a lot of interesting material on sites like yours that suggest there may be ways to help me but no doctors I have been to seem to be open to exploring these alternatives. Can you recommend any holistic doctors in Melbourne who really understand the complexities of autoimmune disease and things like adrenal fatigue?

2. About 3 months ago I felt a hot flushing in my face which persisted on & off, at this time I took my temp (with a Braun ear thermometer) it was around the 37.8 mark, I continued to monitor it for around 3 weeks with temps ranging from 37.2 to 38.3 at all times, taking panadol would not bring it back to (what I know my normal temp range is) of around 36.5.  Other than fatigue no other symptoms appeared.  I went to my local GP who was very thorough and had me keep up the monitoring while having bloods & repeat bloods done (all OK apart from fe studies were a little low) as well as a chest X-ray, pelvis and abdo CT (all came back normal).  As these were all normal he referred me to a specialist who examined me and told me that until other symptoms appear there was nothing they would do.  He also told me to buy a mercury thermometer as he thought that was a more accurate reading and said that I could expect the mercury reading to be about 0.5 less than the ear reading.  Even now my temps still range between 37.2 and 38.3 with the ear reading and with the mercury reading they are about 36.8 to 37.3.   The issue that I have is as I said previously when I have taken my temp prior to this my normal range has always been around 36.5 but I feel as though I'm being dismissed and they think it's my reading that is incorrect.  In saying that my local GP uses the ear reading also and is getting the same result that I am at home.  Do you have any advice on where I should take this next?

5. I recently (9 days ago), had my lower right wisdom (3rd molar) tooth surgically removed, as it was becoming infected quite frequently.  The tooth was what the oral surgeon called a partial bony impaction and I required anethesia for the removal.  My stitches were removed yesterday to my relief but now I have developed what I believe is a "dry socket".  I had a medicated packing in the extraction site, which the surgeon removed yesterday along with the stitches.  I now have a constant deep ache that is not responding to vicoden or percocet.  I did not "dislodge the blood clot", as normally happens because I did not have one to begin with due to the medicated packing that was there until yesterday.  Do you have any suggestions for treatment of this condition?  I have significant bone and nerves exposed in the extraction site that I can view myself in the mirror.  I am on antibiotics to prevent infection but the pain is my main concern.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

5. I've been looking for information with this feeling described and haven't been able to find any. For the last six months or so, I've had this feeling like I have something stuck in my throat, from the point which is referred to as Adam's Apple, to the clavicle bone indentation two inches below. I feel it when I swallow and when I brush my teeth, it feels like it's there, but won't come up.  It’s always in the same place. The only thing that has ever been strange that seems to have something to do with this, is that I once coughed up white chunks (somewhat firm) of "something" that alleviated that feeling for a short while. It did not seem like mucus. I'm sorry for the graphic description. It hasn't happened since, but the feeling remains. I've not seen a doctor, but was wondering if this sounded familiar. I don't smoke, am very healthy, and this is worrying me not to mention, driving me nuts.  It feels like I have a small piece of peanut stuck that won't go up or down. I realize nothing can be diagnosed here but I'm curious to know if those symptoms ring any bells.

I have this stomach-bloating problem for over 8 years.  I think it is a gas problem and on scanning the internal stomach found no sign of ulcer, etc.  This is an everyday problem starting from around 9 am. in the morning to late night.  This is extremely uncomfortable and causes my blood pressure to rise.  A doctor friend says bacteria may cause it?  Can you advise any medicine that I should take?

1. I had three of my wisdom teeth extracted 5 months ago. Only the bottom right was surgically removed and developed dry socket.  My extraction areas are still sensitive especially the tooth that developed dry socket (throbs). Oral surgeon says that it is healing.  But now I developed a dry mouth, tongue is sensitive, coughing up a clear salty mucous, a dry deep cough, feels like I'm swallowing chunks of skin, feels like fur balls stuck in throat, voice is hoarse, tightness in chest and difficulty breathing, inflamed salivary glands back of palate of throat, (looks like tiny pimples, goosebumps), and I lost 18 lbs.  Could it be acid reflux or something else?

2.  My question is about STDs. I have had herpes for 16 years and have kept myself isolated pretty much of that time as far as any social life. He has also seen a naturopath who has requested an Estrogen 2 & 16 test and has given him Saw palmetto, Nettle, pumpkin seeds and zinc to take for his prostate. If the results of the test show an estrogen 16 dominance he can take a broccoli extract and Japanese mushroom treatment that apparently kills cancer cells. Is this all that he can do or do you know of other medical or alternative treatments that may be successful? Would greatly appreciate a response.

1. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this case scenario- a patient on SR T3 of 200mcg pd and 50mcg of Oroxine, due to autoimmune hypothyroiditis but despite this medication and dose - (without any cardio disturbances except a resting pulse of 88), there is minimal improvement in symptoms or weight loss.  Monthly pathology indicates elevated cortisol, and thyroid Ab's with very low oestrogen, testosterone and progesterone in the Luteal phase.  No one as yet can provide me with an answer to crack this code so would be very appreciative if you had any thoughts or could point me in the right direction.

2.I am 25 and am currently taking hgh saizen 3.33,1ml every morning 5 days a week. However I was wondering if I could get a professional opinion if what I was taking was ok and if possible maybe to come in to your clinic and do it the right way under medical supervision.  I am wandering what the cost of hgh is at your clinic and if I could actually purchase it from you even though I am only 25 and probably have no need for it at my age.  The reason I use it at the moment is for bodybuilding, as I seem to put on muscle and lose fat a lot easier.

3. My partner has Idiopathic thrombocytopenia (ITP) & has had it for 2 years. He's been on prednisone 7 months non-stop. The doc's just want to take his spleen out but we're not convinced it’s a good idea. His platelets went up to 196 last year for a few months on their own so we know something can be done. Do you know of any natural remedies that might help, as we know the side effects of prednisone are horrible, but his platelets drop to 3 without it. There must be a way, do you know?

6. My question is on behalf of a relative.  He has had previous surgery to C3/4 levels.  Prior to the surgery the MRI showed compression of the spinal cord.  He had lost extension in the middle fingers and strength in his wrist extension.  After the surgery (they went through the back not the front of the neck), he lost strength in the triceps.  The muscles have since wasted.  They tried a release at the elbow but this had no effect. The reasoning for the decreased function was reported to be due to a rise in heart rate caused by WPW syndrome during the neck surgery.  Anyway, my question is whether further surgery, such as an artificial disc replacement or other, would benefit him, keeping in mind his fear of surgery due to his past experiences.  My fear is that he appears to have increasing muscle wastage in the upper limbs and lower limbs (i.e. due to compression of the spinal cord, not just peripheral nerves).

It has proved effective, but I'm concerned that it may have accelerated the loss of hair on my head. 5. My 67-year-old Sister has a slowly progressing movement disorder, which Sydney and Newcastle's best Neurologists have been unable to define, let alone cure or improve over 3 years of tests.  Her main symptoms:
* Involuntary movement of hand and legs, especially left side.
* Increasingly poor balance, and inability to gauge step sizes, especially going down and on slopes.
* increasing weakness in left leg.
She has undergone multiple MRIs, Blood Test and Hair Test etc. and has been CLEARED of having:
*Huntingtons Disease,
*Parkinson’s disease,
*MS.
My sister is otherwise very alert, still drives a car and does NOT suffer from:
*Memory loss,
*Depression,
*Facial Ticks
*Speech disorders,
Since no Doctor has been able to define her illness or suggest beneficial treatment, I have encouraged her to take:
*Fish oil,
*Antioxidants,

Vitamin E,
*Glyconeutrients (Mannatech),
Unfortunately, none of these appear to be improving her condition so far.
By the way, she had her Thyroid removed 10 years ago and takes Thyroxin supplements.
We would be grateful for any clues you might suggest what this disorder could be, or what she could take to treat it.

4. Some 18 months ago my libido dropped suddenly from having sex twice per week to once per month.  That in itself is not really a concern. What is a concern, however is the aches and pains in my elbows and shoulders that followed.  I suspected a too rapid decline in hormone levels and embarked on a course of vitamins and commercial libido enhancers containing all of the natural hormone precursors outlined in your book which I bought last year.  My libido is improving but the real problem of joint pain persists.

I would greatly appreciate a generic answer to the following situation.  My doctor is clueless.  I am 57 years old, with extremely diminished libido.  I have had all the tests and physicals.  The doctors wish they were as healthy as I am, but so what?  I exercise 4 times a week, my body fat percentage is 12%, and I eat very healthy.  My total testosterone is 400  and the range is between 260 to 1000.  My free testosterone is 79 and the range is between 50 to 210.  This information was provided by Quest Diagnostics.
What should my testosterone level be assuming there are not other problems?

I have a weight problem and find that even though I am on a low carbo diet and am very strict with what I eat, I am finding it very hard to lose weight.  This is very frustrating for me.  I have read that T3( LIOTHYRONINE ) is another form of thyroxine I could take that would help me to lose weight. Is this the case? I would really appreciate your help. Would a local doctor prescribe the T3 type?

6. I am keen to take Hormone Replacement Therapy when I eventually go through menopause, but all the doctors that I talk to have told me that I cannot take it.  This is because I had an ultrasound of my leg three years ago (before varicose vein treatment) and evidence of a previous DVT was found (the vein was damaged).  I have searched the web extensively but could not find much information on this issue.  When I start menopause could I use transdermal patches or perhaps the nasal spray?  Or perhaps some creams? My main concern is to look and feel young.  I am slim, eat well, and don't smoke, so I don't have any other risk factors for DVT.  I have stopped taking the birth control pill too.

Also on Cardizem and Atacand Plus.

3.  I have been suffering severe indigestion for just over a year or so and 8 months ago underwent blood tests, which showed a slight rise of amylase as well as a scope. Nothing was found during the scope. A few months later on a routine bowel check it came up positive and I then underwent a scope for that which again turned up nil problems. However recently I went back to the specialist with the same severe indigestion and stomach pain.  The amylase was up again slightly as previously however after further blood tests dropped to normal again after 2 weeks.  Another scope was done and this time it showed a completely ulcerated stomach and some of the ulcers had been bleeding. I can’t understand how they cannot be there and then in eight months develop like that.  I don’t drink or smoke and am reasonably careful with what I eat. I now have a prescription for some Pariet 20mg.
Ultrasounds showed normal organs however, lots of apparently harmless cysts on all organs. The specialist is not completely sure if all the pain is caused through these ulcers not what has caused them, and is contemplating a CT scan.  I would like to try and find a way through nutrition and natural medicines to help fight this problem and wonder what has caused them.

I have been diagnosed with the Helicobacter Pylori bacteria.  My physician has prescribed LOSEC HP7.   I had very bad side effects including thrush growing on my mouth and throat and an irregular heart beat after taking only 2 doses.  I also have insomnia, chest pain, sore and dry throat and lots of gas in the system.  Is there any other antibiotics or treatment I can take to get rid of the bacteria?

3. Thank you very much for your help.  I’m trying to put on more muscle mass. This is very difficult.   I’m a person that worries a lot.  I think this has a lot with it.  I think I might have adrenal deficiency.  Every time I worry I could lose 3—4 pounds in a couple of days.  The only things that help me are fish oil and pregnenolone.  I have problems digesting complex carbohydrate, so my diet is high in protein and good fats.   I only eat vegetables as carbohydrates.  I could be OK taking the fish oil and pregnenolone but as soon as I stop taking them people would ask me if I lose 10 pounds or so I lose so much muscle.   I would really like to know what’s wrong with me.  Again thank you very much for your help.

6. After coming of the pill in 2000, and failing to resume a regular menstrual cycle I was eventually diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) based on a high free androgen index and the presence of 2 large ovarian cysts.  My insulin and glucose levels were normal. I drastically changed my diet to low GI and began taking many supplements including natural progesterone cream. I lost weight, felt much better and began getting regular periods. Then after about 6 months my periods stopped and I seemed to get worse again despite maintaining those changes.  An ultrasound showed that the cysts had increased in size and although my androgen levels were normal, my previously normal LH: FSH ratio was high. I had a laparoscopy to remove the cysts and it turns out that one was growing from my fallopian tube.  3 months later I have stopped the progesterone cream as my naturopath says it prevents the ovary from producing its own progesterone and I haven’t had a period since February.  After much research I don’t
believe I have PCOS, but I do believe I have a problem with my hypothalamus/pituitary feedback. I also have many symptoms of underactive thyroid yet I’m unsure if this is the cause or a result of the problem. I also have low SHBG levels and slight macrocytosis despite an excellent diet and B complex supplements. Can you advise me on possible testing or treatments and if natural progesterone can negatively affect the ovaries?

7. I take a large number of prescribed drugs following a heart valve transplant surgery (8/2001) and have just entered a new relationship.  I suffer from erectile dysfunction since surgery and do NOT want to take drugs such as Viagra and Cialis. 3. I had a thyroid out 7yrs ago and was put on oroxine of 200mcg a day.  I am putting weight on and am depressed with dry hair and no libido.  I saw a doctor who took blood tests and my DHEA is 3.8 and should be 15.  She put me on DHEA 20mcg a day and also dropped my oroxine 150mcg a day and added T3 15mcg a day.  I still don’t feel a hundred percent and have been on this dose for about 6 weeks now. How long does it take to feel normal?  I read your column in the paper every day.

4. I have had symptoms of chest pain, indigestion, sore throat, and fungal rash on arms and tops of legs, fungal irritation on my toe, muscles and joint aching, tiredness and vagueness for the last six months as well as chronic persistent recurring vaginal thrush for three years. I have been seeing a doctor and MRI scans, barium meals and gallbladder scans showed nothing. I suggested Candida and asked if it could be a problem and could it be investigated. The answer was basically candida can only affect you if your immune system is down and that I was okay. However I had previously had Bells Palsy 10 months ago during pregnancy so I got a 2nd opinion and was immediately without investigation told the same thing but the doctor was unable to explain my symptoms and told me take a multivitamin. I am unsure what to do now and where to get help. I am concerned about my health as I have two small children and need to stay healthy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

3. I have been suffering severe dry eyes for over one year due to meibomian oil gland dysfunction. I have been tested for male hormones as I have read that androgen deficiency could be linked to the gland dysfunction, however my levels were within the normal range. I suspect that I may have a hormonal imbalance as I suffer from hair loss, weight gain, tender breasts as well. I have been tested for Sjogren’s syndrome and returned a negative result. I also believe I may have a gluten intolerance. Is there a relationship between hormonal imbalance and Meibomian gland dysfunction and if not, what else may be causing it?

4. I have a fibroid.   I am on natural progesterone cream and it has helped to alleviate some of the condition.  I would like to shrink the fibroid.  Do you know of any ways of doing this naturally?  I would like to avoid a hysterectomy. I am on a herbal iron supplement, and I wondered if there is any natural product or dietary change that I can take to bring my oestrogen levels down as they are sometimes up over 620, which apparently is in the upper range of the normal levels. I feel if I could get these down, a lot of the symptoms would be much more manageable until menopause.   Also  is the Protocel a 100% natural product as I notice it is available from pharmacies?   I do not wish to take anything that is not as close to nature as possible.

I have had an upper GI done that confirms that I have gastritis and peptic ulcer disease.  I have just recently (two weeks ago) started having more symptoms.  Everything I eat comes right back out either by vomiting or diarrhoea. I have lost my appetite and when I do eat I get full really fast but then after only a little while I feel like I am starving again.  Do you have any suggestions on what might be my problem and why all of this is happening to me when I am so young?

8. I have recurring large sores (nickel to quarter sized) on my left buttock.  They are red and cause a slight itch, but no real pain.  They occur during stressful periods in my life, remain for a week and go away.  Is there anything besides Herpes Simplex 2, which could cause this?  I'm sure I did not pick up a STD.  This has occurred for the past 20 years, and first happened during an extremely stressful evening.  I thought I'd been bitten by an insect in three places at the same time because of the quickness of the onset.  Since then they come on gradually. Do you have any ideas?

I visited a skin specialist and he said is Vitiligo and there is no cure for this decease but he did prescribed me some liquid to be applied on the skin and then stay in the sun for 30 minutes. 1. I have had ongoing fatigue extreme at and exercise intolerance for the past 12 years since having radioactive iodine treatment for graves disease. Taking 150mcg of thyroxine per day, Inderal for palpitations, Losec for reflux oesophagitis. The doctor says my thyroid level is spot on and currently blames my problems on anaemia. Have only become anaemic over the last 2 years. I have a slight heart problem that is why I was prescribed the Inderal and only take 20mg once a day any more makes my blood pressure drop below 100. I suffer a lot of muscle pain and spasms and have several periods of myotonia over the years. I have been seeing a neurosurgeon who says I have some sort of dystonia and has been keeping an eye out for Parkinson’s disease but doesn't think it is that. So I am a loss at present at what or who to see next. I believe that thyroid resistance can be a problem with some people using T4 replacement also read that using T3 could be dangerous as it can increase the palpitation problem. I would be grateful for any advice you would be kind enough to offer.

1.I have had a lower sore throat for six months. The ENT has looked at my vocal cords, and another doctor has looked at my oesophagus and stomach.  The only problem found was a bad case of acid reflux.  I have changed my diet and been put on prevacid, nexium and protonix which all seem to slow the reflux down but do nothing to heal my sore throat. My newest symptom, which may or may not be related, is my tongue. The back half has a heavy brown coating on it. on daily injection. My question is; should I continue indefinitely or with pauses?  I tried pausing last week and the result is that the pain returned in my hips and buttocks.  I assume it is my rheumatism so I started again with my daily Genotropin injections.

5. I have suffered for a year now with a blockage in my chest that has now moved into my upper stomach. I have had treatments for irritable bowel syndrome to no effect. I have terrible with bloating even if I have eaten small quantities. My stomach rumbles lots and I am always tired. 1. I am on these meds: water pill 25mg./celexa 40mg/1 whole aspirin/folic acid 1mg/ and pravachol 20mg.  I began the pravachol about 5 months ago and have found myself gaining weight ever since.  I looked up the medicine and the name for it has sodium next to it.  Besides the regular treadmill I do at home, I have now joined a gym.  I am so beside myself.  My clothes are getting tighter and I am not doing anything different.  I have looked up side effects of pravachol and I don't see anything about weight gain, but I have this feeling this is what is doing it.

2. I am 25 year-old good-looking man.  I don’t have satisfactory and strong moustache and beard.  It’s growing but the rate is really slow as I’m 25 yrs old.  The hair on my face is thin as compared to others and having blanks between them.  Are there any homeopathic remedies for growing a strong beard and moustache?

3. My daughter has lupus, 4 children; she is aged 32 years, stubborn, very busy lifestyle and suffers in silence.  I worry about her, as she is my only surviving child.   Can lupus be controlled by other means than steroids?

4. I have been experiencing severe hot flashes and am interested in your HRT program.  What would you recommend?

 5. The pigment around my eyes has been changing for the last 12 months very slowly.
It is getting very light. I have seen 7 doctors, three dermatologists, three opthalmologists and a GP.  No one can tell me what is causing it.  I had a ton of blood work done, all normal including my immune system.   I have had blepharitis for 10 years controlled, but it flared up in Sept and would not go away with the conventional treatment as before, (i.e., antibiotic ointments, lid scrubs, antibiotics.) My face started feeling very warm and getting red very easily, so I was told I had a form of rosacea and ocular rosacea and that was why my eyes felt bad.  I have been on oral antibiotics for many months and metrogel on my face for 6 weeks.  I was told it takes three months for the rosacea to get under control, but I am worried about the whiteness.  Can vitiligo around the eyes cause the lids to burn and will it go away on its own.  Should I have a gluten test done?  What foods should I try staying away from?  It really scares me and I just want all this to go away and feel better. I take a lot of vitamins for the eyes and supplements including borage oil, flaxseed and evening primrose oil.   Can any of these cause whitening?  I am post-menopause and on HRT for years.

6. At age 38, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 low-grade small lymphocytic B cell NHL (bone marrow compromised), which is not being treated at this time - watchful waiting approach adopted by haematologist.  I also have recently been diagnosed (finally!!) with hypothyroidism and will know if it's Hashimoto's Syndrome following more tests.  I have lost confidence in my ability to judge what's out of whack with my own body due to years' of stupidly accepting my GPs indifference and fobbing off with scripts for anti-depressants (which I elected not to take as I believe they mask the real cause of my symptoms.)
1.What further/maintenance tests would you recommend for thyroid?
2.Should I obtain a referral to an endocrinologist?
3. Will addressing thyroid problem with supplements make the lymphoma worse?
4. Once on a synthetic thyroid hormone, am I on it for life?
5. How do I get my new GP to act on my health concerns and advice without sounding like a raving lunatic?

7.  I recently started taking 3mg of Melatonin at night for sleep instead of Restoril.  I have also started SAME-E 200-400mg/day.  I have had a hair loss problem for 2 years now.  Will the melatonin or SAME-E increase my hair loss?

1.  Lately I am finding that I sleep quite heavily and wake up extremely tired in the morning, and get up looking like I haven’t slept at all, and sometimes feel quite foggy.  I don’t smoke or drink and rarely go out. I have not long started menopause and have been on a low dose HRT (not combined) however this tiredness has been really slowly occurring over a period of time.  It is quite significant now.  I am working fairly long hours. (Computer work)   My diet has been quite shabby (temporarily living in a very small shed awaiting to build and unable to store fresh foods) and I suffer constipation regularly, which is something I never did before on this level. I exercise moderately.   I feel as though I need a good pick me up tonic or something.

2.  I have had success at beating Candida Albicans within a year of adding these natural supplements to my diet - I want to help others learn what I have - any suggestions?? I truly want to give hope to others that suffer.

3.  I have acne along my jaw line and recently underwent an operation to remove cysts from both my ovaries. The Doctor has put me on hormonal treatments and the pill -specifically Minerva (for acne)- I've been on this for 2 and half months and haven't seen any improvement. It goes away for a week and two weeks before my periods they start to come out again. I've bought Milk thistle to cleanse my liver.  I eat fresh fruit and vegetables and avoid dairy products.  But still they persist.  Should I hang in there until the pill starts to work, the diet and the liver tonic, or is there something else I can try?

After an MRI scan I was told I have a degenerative disc and there is no water content in my lower disc.  I have been to several doctors but I am not getting anywhere.  I have pain all the time and this has been really bad now for about 7 months.  Is there a way to add water content to the disc?  Or do you have any advice?

4. I suffer from myopia-induced early left-eye cataract, borderline glaucoma, and vitreous floaters and am also concerned about early onset dementia/Alzheimer's.  It seems the 3 ingredients below may offer some benefit.  Do you know of a similar product in Australia combining these three ingredients? I am currently taking alpha-lipoic acid, vitamins, bilberry etc and have a healthy diet and lifestyle.  I have also read of a Russian study showing cataract reversal using N-acetylcarnosine although I am very sceptical about this. The obvious question is; if it works, why isn't it in the headlines?  Do you have a view on NAC?  BioEndurance™
Each 1 capsule contains:
Acetyl-L-Carnitine 500 mg
Alpha Lipoic Acid 200 mg
CoQ10 20 mg
Plus
Bioperine™ (aids absorption) 5 mg

1.  I only just found out about human growth hormone because of a spam email I received.  It said that it cures a range of problems [as does your home page].  Where it differs is that it says there are no side effects from taking them.  It also says you can take it in capsule form and not injections.  Is this true?   If so where in Sydney can I buy human growth hormone?   Do I need to see a doctor first?

2.  Hi my name is Daisy I am a 40-year old and I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and I was just wanting to know if there where any side affects or anything.  I have just started taking Oroxine and will be taking that for the rest of my life. I contracted this disease from my dad’s mother and sister who are both in there 50's and 70's. I also wanted to know how I got it.

3.  I have heard of the benefits of L-Cysteine and started taking it.  I am a healthy woman.  I take 1 Centrum multivitamin, 1 Biotin 5000mg and 1 L-Cysteine capsule daily.  I noticed that since I started taking the L-Cysteine, I feel faint; it gives me a piercing headache, I urinate often and my blood pressure race so hard.  Sometimes, I literally have to sit. Whenever I feel faint, I also feel nervous to the point where I have to eat whatever is in view so I can feel stronger.  Is this side effect normal?  Am I seeing these changes because my body has not adjusted to the L-Cysteine and might go away after a while?  I do see other benefits such as hair growth etc., but I need a doctor's opinion.

2. My lab work on day 3: LH – 12 FSH – 7.  On day 33: LH – 42 FSH - 10
Does this mean I have PCOS?  I do not get periods on my own. I get them after taking provera.

3. Recently a study published in Arthritis and Rheumatology (May issue2002) shows lowered growth hormone in fibromyalgia. I have had mild to moderate fibromyalgia for years plus usual age related problems with fat gain and difficulties with weight loss despite exercise and low calorie low fat diet. I want to try taking homeopathic DHEA and growth hormone as a first step and if it doesn't help then over to the doctor for tests and injections.  Who is there in Brisbane? Now, bearing in mind your advice re estrogen, I am not on HRT which I was advised to stop when I got a massive DVT in February. So, what is the maximum oral dose of DHEA that will put me in the breast cancer risk zone, or is there no risk unless by injection. I am taking vitamin E and melatonin.

4. Since I stopped HRT I have increased my calcium intake. I have read another recent study indicating that the current RDA of vitamin D3 is way, way too low. But I am unable to source any D3 on its own in Australia without being with vitamin A and my calcium supplement only has the minimum D3. Is there any problem with taking a lot of vitamin A if that's the only way to increase D3 levels?

5. The study re fibromyalgia mentioned above, was able to restore GH levels with injections of pyrostignine.  I don't understand the connection between an anticholinesterase and GH levels, but am wondering about galantamine.
Would it be an idea to try this as well?

2. I have been taking my temperature for my thyroid and am aware that normal body temperature should be between 36.6-36.8 C. A temperature of 36.4 or less suggests a thyroid that is not keeping up. How can it be that the ideal temperature for rest is 21 C, which is what was quoted of you in the health section of the West Australian Sunday Times?

3. Over the last few years I've been experiencing general tiredness, low libido and slightly depressed. I've read about DHEA on your site and others and it appears 15-50 mg/d is the typical dose range for women. However, where can I buy it in Australia? The only medication I can find contains 3 mg and it appears there are restrictions on buying DHEA from overseas.

4. I was diagnosed as having a low thyroid using a 24-urine test.  My palms and feet are an orange colour, which is one of the classic symptoms of low thyroid.  I have been trying to jump-start my thyroid with various nutritional supplements along with adrenal supports, low stress, etc.  Do you think that it is wise to avoid taking thyroid hormone?  What nutritional (food as well as supplements) are critical for regaining thyroid function.  I do not want to be on thyroid hormone for the rest of my life if I can get my own thyroid to start producing enough hormone on its own.

5. I have been diagnosed with vulva vestibulitis.  It is an inflammation of the vestibulitis area.  It is debilitating for my sex life.  There are many web sites that deal with this problem but none of them know what causes it to happen.  Do you have any insight or suggestions? Also, should I take fish oil and something like Udo's oil or just one - and if so, which one?

1. I am 33-years-old, 165cm tall and weigh 83kg.  I took HGH via injection for 2 months in 1999, to help with weight loss, fatigue etc.  I had a little weight loss, and my energy levels were fantastic.  I stopped taking this treatment as I was so nervous about taking something so controversial.  All the info said, 'we are really not sure of the side effects'.  My question is, how far has it come in the last few years?  Could I confidently take the treatment now, or is it still quite controversial?  I also took DHEA and testosterone.  I would like to start on these again.

2. My 15-year-old son has multiple food allergies that causes eczema.  Through the internet, we found a doctor in America who suggested to have his stool tested(through Great Smokies).  The test indicated that he has Klebsiella pnuemonia and other pathogenic bacteria in his gut.  Subsequently the doctor put him on lactobacillus acidophilus  and other good bacteria and also a natural formula to repair leaky gut.  He has  been on it for 8 months.  He got better but had a relapse about 4 month ago, so he had another stool test.  Now he has klebsiella oxytoca.  We have just changed his acidophilus to the Japan OM-X (lactic acid bacteria) formulation.
What is your opinion about this treatment?
Is there anything else we can do for him or give him?
Will this cure his food allergies?

1. I have been on a no sugar, no fruit, whole-wheat only diet for approximately 1 month.  Since removing these items from my diet, I feel more and more fatigued.  I admit at first that I didn't eat well enough because I didn't know what to eat, being on such a strict diet.  I started eating vegetables, red meat, chicken, almonds etc. and still I do not have energy like I did before this diet.  I started taking a multivitamin, hoping it will help.  Could the fatigue be a symptom of the dying-off stage of the candida, where toxins are released into the body?  I did notice my skin get worse before better (blemishes and then clearing).  I guess I should seek the help of a naturopath or nutritionist.

2.  Since November last year I have had a persistent coated tongue.  The coating is white and can be scraped off.  My tastebuds are very large and the coating surrounds them.  When I drink milk my tongue goes completely white. About three years later she changed her attitude towards sex as she developed dryness of the vagina.  She developed thinning of the wall of the vagina with skin splitting.  She has been examined by specialists who have ordered her to use a cream to take away the pain and to stay on HRT.  Can anything in natural form help her to get back her health in a natural way and increase her interest again in a healthy sexual life?

2.  What happens to a woman's skin when/while she sleeps?  Why do women need beauty sleep?

3. I was recently diagnosed with helicobacter pylori after having pain & discomfort for about 11 months.  Seems it started with eating some turkey bacon (which seemed brittle) that didn't digest well.  Seems it damaged my digestive system.  I'm on the 3 antibiotics, which are supposed to destroy the bacteria.  I hope this works.  Would colloidal silver work as well?  What about Mastic Gum, which I've seen on the Internet & is supposed to also destroy the bacteria?  I would like to know in your opinion what the best treatment would be.  Your response would be greatly appreciated.

  1.  My brother has hepatitis C and is now taking Interferon and is extremely ill.  Do you have any comments or suggestions as far as treatment is concerned?  Is there anyone that you have treated successfully?

   2.  I have no beard and I’m a male in my twenties.  I wonder if you could help me.

   3.  I have parkinson's dx 8/96, and take levodopa (madopar) 100mgs x 4/day and selegiline 5 mgs x 2/day.  I am familiar with the Perlmutter protocol, and being unable to obtain IV glutathione, tried the oral form with no noticeable effect over 2 months. I would like to try the precursors but am having difficulty finding a supplier of NAC and acetyl-L-carnitine.

My pharmacist has supplied me with L-cysteine 500mgs and a complex containing L-carnitine 250 mg with inositol, DL-methionine, choline bitartrate, nicotinamide, zinc amino acid chelate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, magnesium amino acid chelate, manganese amino acid chelate.  Will these forms of glutathione  precursors do any good/harm in the short term (until I locate a supplier of the acetyl forms)?  I do take a number of other vitamin/mineral/antioxidant/herbal/hormonal supps--under the supervision of my GP nutritionist, but as he is often away I will be grateful for your opinion/advice on this occasion.

    4.  Recently after a period of unwellness, I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem. (This all started with a mystery virus and a swollen gland).  I am to be retested this week to see if the thyroid is functioning properly again. If it isn't, I will be given medication.  (I have had to wait 3 weeks between tests).  The second blood test is for TSH and T4 and thyroid antibodies. Your website says T3 testing is important. Can you please explain why and should I ask for that test too?  Also, I have had a swollen gland and they found I have toxoplasmosis, which they hope I will overcome naturally. I feel pretty sick and the doctor also recommended I take zinc to boost the immune system.  I mentioned my problem to a few friends of mine and many tried to put my illness down to the change of life. I now wonder if there are many women out there with undiagnosed illnesses who are putting their sicknesses down to the change of life instead of seeking out reasons for their symptoms.

     5.  I am a burnt-out doctor suffering from post-viral fatigue.  I have read your article on phytosterols.  You recommend supplements.  What is an appropriate dose and brand?

     6. My question is regarding my daughter who is 9 years old.  She has alopecia areata.  Her first episode was after receiving the Hepatitis B vaccine at only one year of age. Her hair all fell out then grew back.  Then she had another Hepatitis B vaccine and again the same thing happened.  Her hair grew back again and so we thought it was just a side effect of the vaccine.  Well, 6 years later, her hair began to fall out again without receiving a vaccine.  We have been battling this devastating disease for three years now and it's been a horrible rollercoaster ride.  She currently must wear a wig to school.  Her hair has come back, though it falls out again.  I am interested in moducare for her but I am not sure about it and I certainly don't want to make her condition any worse.  It is considered an auto-immune disease that is T-cell mediated.  Hair will grow while using Prednisone but will fall out when it is stopped.  Do you have any advise on how to help her?

4.  I've had chronic fatigue syndrome for 10 years, but was diagnosed with underactive thyroid a year ago (which may be the underlying cause of the exhaustion).  I'm now taking 200mg Oroxine (& astragalus, ginseng & bupleurum) and find my progress is negligible.  Recent blood tests indicate I may have Hashimoto's or Grave's disease.  Does this mean my thyroid is in a disease state, and if so, what can I do?  What other blood tests could I be asking for?  While I have a good holistic doctor (in Brisbane) who uses Chinese herbs, I don't think thyroid disease is his specialty.  Can you recommend anyone in the Brisbane area who can interpret my blood test results with more detail and/or has any success with treating thyroid diseases?  (I saw an endocrinologist but she wasn't that helpful).

5.  I am going through menopause.   I have lumpy breast and can't take HRT.   My face is sagging.  Can I apply estrogen cream (triestrogen) to rejuvenate my facial skin?  I am also using natural progesterone cream.   Would the estrogen cream cause breast cancer because this cream is absorbed into my bloodstream via my skin?
