QUESTION 1:
What do you consider the root cause of vitiligo?
I am a natural health care practitioner with some
success treating this condition but am eager to hear
your understanding of it.
Answer: I see vitiligo as an auto-immune
problem whereby the immune system is attacking the
pigment producing cells.
This can be caused by a food allergy/intolerance
and here I have suggested to my patients that they avoid
gluten, dairy and yeast products.
I have also used immune modulating formulations
such as the phytosterols and a herbal substance called
polypodium. I have incorporated the mineral selenium in
this approach. I
would be interested to hear how you manage this problem.
