QUESTION 1:
Lately I am finding that I sleep quite
heavily and wake up extremely tired in the morning, and
get up looking like I haven’t slept at all, and
sometimes feel quite foggy.
I don’t smoke or drink and rarely go out. I
have not long started menopause and have been on a low
dose HRT (not combined) however this tiredness has been
really slowly occurring over a period of time.
It is quite significant now. I am working
fairly long hours. (Computer work)
My diet has been quite shabby (temporarily living
in a very small shed awaiting to build and unable to
store fresh foods) and I suffer constipation regularly,
which is something I never did before on this level. I
exercise moderately.
I feel as though I need a good pick me up tonic
or something.
Answer: An adrenal tonic might
be a good idea including B vitamins, vitamin C and
magnesium. Herbs
such withania, licorice and ginseng are also adrenal
boosters. It
would be a good idea to have a formal assessment with a
holistic physician, which would involve exploring your
adrenal hormones together with your thyroid hormone
levels as well as those nutrients which support your
adrenals such as the B vitamins.
Certainly nutrient deficiencies could be a
problem, which would compromise the function of your
liver as well as your cognitive powers.
Have your blood sugar levels evaluated as these
may also be out of balance leading to a condition known
as hypoglycaemia.
QUESTION 2: I have had success at
beating Candida Albicans within a year of adding these
natural supplements to my diet - I want to help others
learn what I have - any suggestions?? I truly want to
give hope to others that suffer.
Answer:
What I do is incorporate a yeast and sugar
free diet together with supplements of acidophilus/bifidus
to which I add herbal compounds including horopito and
aniseed. I
maintain this regimen for at least 12 weeks at which
stage I re-evaluate candida antibody levels as well as
symptoms. If
this does not prove to be successful then I may prolong
this therapy if there are improvements or change to
pharmaceutical interventions such as nystatin, nizoral
or diflucan. I
would be interested to hear about your experience, which
I’m sure would benefit the other visitors to this
site.
