QUESTION 1:
I am interested in buying Resveratrol. Do you know of
any suppliers in Australia?
Answer:
Resveratrol is a very powerful antioxidant
and has been utilised in cancer treatments.
Unfortunately this substance is not available in
Australia and you will have to purchase it via sources
on the Internet.
QUESTION 2: I have just been diagnosed
with helicobacter pylori. What exactly is this and
where does it come from?
Answer: Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium or a germ, which
predominantly resides in the stomach.
This germ is associated with inflammation of the
stomach, which leads to sensations of discomfort as well
as stomach ulcers and even stomach cancer.
Before you start to panic I should tell you that
it is present in approximately 40% of the adult
population of Australia and I’m sure the numbers are
very similar in the USA and other 1st world
countries. In
a significant number of cases helicobacter pylori does
no harm and does not lead to any serious diseases like
ulcers or cancer. However
gastroenterologists or bowel specialists agree that if
you have symptoms associated with the presence of this
germ such as pain in the stomach area that you should be
treated. Transmission
is mostly person-to-person spread but before you go
blaming those around you or wonder who gave you this
germ you should know that it has probably been there a
long time. Medical
treatment is usually highly effective at eradicating
this germ.
QUESTION 3: Is 25 too young to start this
program? Do you offer services in the states?
Answer: As
diseases take a long time to establish themselves in
your body it is never too soon to start this programme.
Unfortunately the tests have to be done at my
clinic in Sydney. There
are a number of anti-aging centres in the USA and if you
go to www.worldhealth.net
you should be able to locate one near you.
QUESTION
4: I have diabetes and take half tablet
in the morning and half in the evening of Capoten 25mg
for control of blood pressure. If I take ginseng root
tea with the above medication what reaction may it have
on me?
Answer:
I could not find any evidence that ginseng
will interfere with your medication however it may lower
your blood sugar so I suggest that you have this
monitored by your doctor and just to be safe have your
blood pressure checked at the same time.
QUESTION 5: I've
been looking for information with this feeling described
and haven't been able to find any. For the last six
months or so, I've had this feeling like I have
something stuck in my throat, from the point which is
referred to as Adam's Apple, to the clavicle bone
indentation two inches below. I feel it when I swallow
and when I brush my teeth, it feels like it's there, but
won't come up. It’s
always in the same place. The only thing that has ever
been strange that seems to have something to do with
this, is that I once coughed up white chunks (somewhat
firm) of "something" that alleviated that
feeling for a short while.
It did not seem like mucus. I'm
sorry for the graphic description. It hasn't happened
since, but the feeling remains. I've not seen a doctor,
but was wondering if this sounded familiar. I don't
smoke, am very healthy, and this is worrying me not to
mention, driving me nuts.
It feels like I have a small piece of peanut
stuck that won't go up or down. I realize nothing can be
diagnosed here but I'm curious to know if those symptoms
ring any bells.
Answer:
There is a condition called globus hystericus,
which means that there could be an unconscious anxiety
leading to your condition.
You would need to explore this with your doctor.
The other possibility is an allergy and once
again the appropriate investigations performed by your
doctor or an allergy specialist should be able to
identify which if any allergies are affecting you.
QUESTION 6: I
have this stomach-bloating problem for over 8 years.
I think it is a gas problem and on scanning the internal
stomach found no sign of ulcer, etc. This is an
everyday problem starting from around 9 am. in the
morning to late night. This is extremely
uncomfortable and causes my blood pressure to rise.
A doctor friend says bacteria may cause it? Can
you advise any medicine that I should take?
Answer:
If you doctor has performed a gastroscopy on
your stomach and found no bacteria then you might also
be suffering from a food allergy or intolerance.
I have found that dairy, yeast and wheat are the
biggest culprits. Allergy
tests will tell you whether any of these foods are
affecting you in any adverse way. Your body might also
not be producing enough digestive juices in which case
taking extra digestive enzymes might relieve your
bloating.
QUESTION
7: My husband is thinking about taking Propecia
but before he does we wanted to make sure it doesn't
affect us having a child. We are aware of the
semen count but will it affect a fetus? Is it in
pill form that needs to be taken everyday
Answer:
The pharmaceutical company that distributes
this medication in Australia indicates that research on
animals shows there is insufficient amounts of this drug
in the semen to cause any foetal abnormalities.
It has to be taken daily.
QUESTION 8: What
is the safest hormone replacement therapy and why?
What is the best natural skin product for the body and
face?
Answer:
There is no hormone replacement therapy that
is 100% safe however if you use bio-identical hormone
treatments that are customised to your needs and hormone
levels and these are constantly monitored by your doctor
then the risks attached to this form of hormone
replacement should be minimised. This type of hormone replacement therapy is formulated
by a compounding pharmacist and needs to be prescribed
by your doctor. If you have very fine lines then
retinoic acid, vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid might be
helpful.
