QUESTION 1:
I want to do a 14day detox absolute
fast...(water only)...can I stop oroxine at this time?
Answer:
I would not suggest stopping your medication
and I would also caution that these kinds of fasts about
which I have mixed feelings can lead to a massive
release of toxins and free radicals which can be
overwhelming if insufficient antioxidant support is
present to mop up all these substances.
QUESTION 2: How do I repair the
damage to my adrenals and thyroid from years of
stimulant abuse?
Answer: You
should have your adrenal and thyroid function measured
by means of the appropriate tests, which would include
serum DHEAS and cortisol for the adrenals and TSH, T3
and T4 for the thyroid gland. If these levels are low then you can explore the kind of
nutrients, which can prop up adrenal function like the B
vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and magnesium as
well as kelp, selenium, tyrosine and zinc for the
thyroid gland.
QUESTION 3:If I have no problems with my
thyroid gland, will Oroxine be damaging in any way? Does
it assist in temporarily losing excess body fluid
Answer: This
is an interesting question as your thyoid function might
appear to be normal based on your TSH blood test and yet
when your doctor orders a complete thyroid panel your T3
and T4 might be low and you might also have symptoms
such as cold hands and feet and fluid retention
suggesting inadequate production of thyroid hormone.
Equally if your cortisol levels are high thyroid
function will be compromised. In this context will oroxine be beneficial or harmful?
I don’t believe taking oroxine will be a
problem but you should also look at supplementing with
T3 to boost thyroid function.
This might lead to some weight loss although I
don’t think this is the complete way to lose weight.
You would also need to have other hormones
measured including your insulin and glucose levels and
then you would need to consider hormonal modulation,
diet change, exercise and nutrient supplementation to
achieve effective long-lasting weight loss.
QUESTION
4: I have hepatitis-C and I'm taking celebrex
200mg is this medication ok to take with my problem?
Answer:
While the recent problems have been with
vioxx and not celebrex I’m not a great poromoter of
these medications although in your case I don’t
believe that this drug will pose a problem.
However in the interests of boosting liver
function and preventing possible harm taking herbs like
globe artichoke, st mary’s thistle and dandelion would
protect your liver from any adverse effects of this
drug.
QUESTION 5: I
recently (9 days ago), had my lower right wisdom (3rd molar) tooth
surgically removed, as it was becoming infected quite
frequently. The tooth was what the oral surgeon
called a partial bony impaction and I required anethesia
for the removal. My stitches were removed
yesterday to my relief but now I have developed what I
believe is a "dry yesterday along with the
stitches. I now have a constant deep ache that is
not responding to vicoden or percocet. I did not
"dislodge the blood clot", as normally happens
because I did not have one to begin with due to the
medicated packing that was there until yesterday.
Do you have any suggestions for treatment of this
condition? I have significant bone and nerves
exposed in the extraction site that I can view myself in
the mirror. I am on antibiotics to prevent
infection but the pain is my main concern. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
You should bring this to the attention of
your doctor. Dl-phenylalanine is a natural pain reliever but I doubt this
would be as effective as the analgesics you mention.
