QUESTION 1:
I have H. Pylori and have had Nexium Hp7
antibiotics.
I seem to be worse and I can hear my pulse very
strongly when it's quiet. I don't want to take any more
antibiotics. How can I get rid of this bacteria?
Answer:
I’ve consulted with a few patients in
recent times who are suffering from infestations with
Helicobacter pylori, which did not respond to
conventional treatments.
This is a germ, which resides predominantly in
the stomach and is associated with inflammation of the
lining of the stomach, stomach ulcers and even cancer of
the stomach. Alternative
treatments include vitamin C, mastic gum, acidophilus
powder or capsules and the herbs barberry, grapefruit
seed extract, thyme, myrrh, cinnamon, golden seal,
garlic, liquorice and tansy.
You have to give this kind of approach three
months to work after which you can repeat the breath
test to see whether Helicobacter pylori has been
eradicated.
QUESTION 2: What is sarcopenia?
Does this respond to Andriol Testocaps? Have you ever treated it?
Answer:
Sarcopnenia is the loss of muscle mass, which
happens with ageing.
This coincides with the decline in hormones such
as testosterone and growth hormone and possibly DHEA.
Andriol is a form of testosterone treatment taken
orally, which is probably not the best way to take this
hormone. I
prefer creams or troches, which are lozenges formulated
by a compounding pharmacy.
Before you commence this treatment you should
have your testosterone levels measured with
supplementation only being advised if levels are low.
QUESTION 3: I would like to start taking
DHEA. and HGH in a tablet form.
Could you recommend a brand to me and do natural
forms of this work eg. those you buy from health food
store.
Answer: In
Australia the forms of DHEA and growth hormone that are
available over the counter at chemists and health food
stores are homeopathic versions of the real thing and
therefore although this may have some effect in some
people in others there may be no response.
In the USA DHEA is freely available and it’s
not homeopathic it’s the real deal.
To obtain DHEA or growth hormone you need a
doctor’s prescription and you should only commence
treatment if your levels are low.
QUESTION
4: I have been extremely tired for several
weeks and for the past two weeks have increased
abdominal discomfort, heartburn, and a metallic taste in
my mouth. What are some possible causes?
Answer: I
suggest you have this checked out by your doctor.
It could be an infection in the stomach
associated with a germ called helicobacter pylori, which
was referred to in the first question, reflux or
possibly even an ulcer although this is unlikely.
The appropriate investigations can rule out these
possibilities.
QUESTION 5: I
have a 19 year-old son who has had a medical condition
for the last 18 months that I only found out about
recently. He refuses to tell me what the problem is but
I am very concerned whether he is getting proper medical
advice and treatment as he says no treatment has so far
worked. It
makes him depressed, feeling that life is not worth
living and worries about the effects of the condition in
his future. I
can only guess that he feels ashamed or embarrassed to
tell me what it is even though I have assured him I
would not think less of him.
I have found out he is taking a drug called
Nexium HP7 followed by a course of regular penicillin.
The nexium is indicated for stomach, ulcers and
helicobacter bacteria but when asked if this was what he
had he says no and that his doctor is testing this drug
on him as it has had some success on others with the
same condition. He
also says it hasn’t made any difference with him and
that nothing works. Could you suggest any conditions
that nexium HP7 may be used for other than the usual.
I just want to make sure he is getting the best
possible treatment.
Answer: I suggest you express your concerns to his doctor.
That really is all you can do.
It is possible that his doctor does not realize
that he is not responding.
Nexium HP7 is a treatment that is commonly used
to treat helicobacter pylori and I’m really not aware
of any other condition for which this is utilized.
QUESTION 6: Is
your book only in audio form and is it distributed in
the USA or only orderable through you.
Could you tell me if beta sitosterol
supplementation ever causes hair loss?
Answer:
You are referring to my book ‘Eternal
health’ which is available via my website or via my
clinic. The
contact phone number is 2—88833655.
2 being the area code for Sydney and you would
have to precede this with the international code for
Australia. Beta-sitosterol
is found in herbs like saw palmetto, which reduce
dihydrotestosterone levels, which is the stronger male
hormone thought to lead to hair loss. In other words rather than causing hair loss beta-sitosterol
should have the opposite effect.
QUESTION
7: Is it true DHEA can actually increase
your risk for a heart attack?
So why do you prescribe it?
My source is
Journal of the American College of Cardiology Dec
2003.
Answer:
This is a very good and pertinent question.
You are referring to a study carried out at the
Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia, which
demonstrated that the addition of DHEA to cells taken
from a male’s umbilical vein resulted in the increase
in macrophage foam cell formation which can lead to
heart disease. Macrophages are the type of cells, which
can gobble up fatty deposits.
This can then lead to the formation of what is
called foam cells, which can further promote the
accumulation of the fatty plaque that can result in a
heart attack. The authors concede that a similar effect
would occur in the body when DHEA is at its peak.
It does seem a bit strange that a hormone, which
is naturally produced by our bodies, is also designed to
kill us. There
are other studies documented in a question and answer
segment of the March 2004 edition of the ‘Life
Extension’ magazine conducted with American expert
Stephen Cherniske found at www.lef.org
which testify to the benefits of DHEA as far as
cardiovascular health is concerned. I utilize DHEA because of its many benefits but it is
important to be forever vigilant and therefore anyone
taking DHEA should have their cholesterol, HDL and LDL
levels constantly monitored.
I’m busy completing a book on the benefits of
hormones such as DHEA so stay tuned to this space for
further information.
QUESTION 8: I
wake up with puffy eyes every morning throughout
the day the swelling goes down some.
There are days that aren't as bad. What can I do
to make the fluids around my eyes circulate when I
sleep? Are
there any lotions, surgery or laser procedures I can do
or use to get rid of the puffiness?
Answer: You
might be suffering from allergies, nutrient deficiencies
or thyroid hormone imbalance.
It would be worthwhile having this assessed by
your doctor. If
you go to the google search engine you will find a ton
of eye gels to manage this sort of problem if all your
tests prove to be normal. I’m really not sure how
effective these treatments are.
QUESTION 9:
I am moving to Adelaide from Townsville where
specialized medical care is very limited. Can you
recommend a doctor that specializes in candida albicans?
Answer:
If you contact The Australian College of
Nutritional and Environmental Medicine at 03-95896088
they will be able to provide you with a physician who
can look after your needs.
QUESTION 10: Is
the hormone 5htp compatible with thyroxine 50mcg and
DHEA? I’m
on DHEA for menopause and thyroxine for thyroid.
Answer:
5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is used for sleep disorders, depression,
anxiety, migraine, tension-type headaches and
fibromyalgia. There
is no evidence that this substance is incompatible with
thyroxin or DHEA.
QUESTION 11: My
Patient, an Australian journalist may be going to
Canberra soon and wants to continue his regular
injections of HGH-4/7 units for 5 days of a week.
He wants a doctor to inject him! Where can he
find one?
Answer:
The Australian College of Nutritional and
Environmental Medicine at 03-95896088 should be able to
look after your needs.
QUESTION 12: I
want to know is there anything, which can take to
make my penis bigger?
I also suffer from poor memory recently and my eyes are
hurting me.
Answer:
I’m not aware of any penile enlargers but
it might be worthwhile having your testosterone levels
measured. It
is unusual for someone so young (age 22) to have a poor
memory so it would be a good idea to have this checked
out by your doctor.
There is a product called Neurazest, which is
very useful for memory and can be obtained via this
website or my clinic at 2-88833655 preceded by the
international area code for Australia.
QUESTION 13: I
have started a vegetarian diet 4 months ago. Is it safe
at my age, because I can feel there is something
changing in my bones (cracking noise in knees, pain in
my fingers) - I started to take glucosamine, but maybe
there is something missing in my diet?
Answer:
Vegetarians can have iron, vitamin B12 and
protein deficiencies. This might not be enough to explain the cracking noise in
your knees or the pain in your fingers, which should be
assessed by your doctor as well as possible deficiencies
of the nutrients to which I’ve alluded.
QUESTION 14: I
have had a lot of stomach problems in the past eight
years along with asthma, suspected glandular fever
and a weak immune system.
I have tried many different products (I also have
amalgam fillings).
I have recently discovered the use of amino acids
for my case, arginine, glutamine, glutathione,
glycine,and cysteine.
I also take essential amino acid supplements. I do this because I can't take whey powder regularly.
I would just like to know what you think on the
subject and if I have my information correct.
Answer:
If you’re taking the amino acids to boost
your immune system then you are doing the right thing.
There are other substances that can augment your
immune system like vitamin C, coenzyme Q10 and zinc.
With stomach problems and asthma you need your
allergies assessed.
