QUESTION 1: How can I loose weight even though I have polycystic ovaries?  I would like to cure this condition as well as have a baby.

Answer   There is an underlying metabolic disorder called insulin resistance, which may be causing your polycystic condition and the hormonal imbalances, which go with it.  In order to discover whether you have insulin resistance you would have to have a blood test, which measures glucose and insulin before and after a sugar drink as well as your cholesterol and triglyceride levels.  Often this condition is associated with excessive weight.  If your insulin levels are high before and after the sugar drink then you can go on a special diet, which is low in carbohydrates and fats as well as take nutrient supplements which improve your insulin function including chromium and lipoic acid.  This might help resolve condition.

QUESTION 2: I have read about the benefits of symbiotropin (human growth hormone) in "the Most Urgent Health Discoveries of the Year" from the Health Sciences Institute.  The booklet's directory states the product is sourced in the US from www.cnm-inc.com.  Is this product also available in Australia and if so where can it be purchased?  Any further information regarding this product will be appreciated.

Answer:  This product is not available in Australia and would have to be purchased via the web.  It is not actually growth hormone but what is considered a growth hormone promoter, which means that it contains substances, which encourage your body to produce more growth hormone.  I would encourage you to critically evaluate the claims that are being made for this product.  There is evidence that certain amino acids such as arginine and glutamine stimulate growth hormone production but I’m not aware the symbiotropin contains these substances.

QUESTION 3:  I’m presently in Royal Brisbane hospital with HOCM heart condition. Collapsed at supermarket on Monday.  Muscle thickening in heart created loss of blood flow on exertion.  First time collapsed.   Works in Parkes NSW as mining engineer.  Stressful work, away from home and family 90% of year.  Brother also has this condition. His nature tends to be angry about everything.  Doesn't drink or smoke. Could you help?

Answer:  There are certain nutrients that you can take which may improve heart muscle function and these would include coenzyme Q10, acetyl-L-carnitine, vitamins A, B, C and E, fish oil and alpha-lipoic acid.  Hormones such as testosterone and growth hormone can also be helpful and you should have these measured before embarking on any supplementary hormone problem.

QUESTION 4:  What is the difference between the birth of a baby in 7-month age & birth in 8-month age?  Which of them has more probability of living?

Answer:   Obviously it would be better if the baby was born at a later stage of the pregnancy but I would say that in this modern day and age and with the available technology there should not be major problems at either stage.

QUESTION 5: My grandmother has breast cancer, is there any alternative to radiotherapy?

Answer:  If you scroll down the what’s new updates you will find lots of suggestions for managing breast cancer.  These complementary means of management are not intended to replace conventional therapy.  Amongst other supplements your grandmother can look at taking fish oil, quercetin, coenzyme Q 10, maitake mushroom extract, noni juice, the hormone melatonin and conjugated linoleic acid.  Ideally she should consult with a physician who is well versed in the application of these types of remedies.

QUESTION 6:  I am a student of medical biological sciences and will graduate this year.  I am studying anti-aging strategies for my final thesis.  What do you offer to me about a specific site on antiaging researches?  I want to study about a mechanism especially related to gene therapies.

Answer:  I suggest that you go to the A4M website at www.worldhealth.net where you will find the research that you are looking for.  Journals such as ‘Science’ and ‘Nature’ are also useful.

QUESTION 7:   I am worried that I’m not seeing any growth of moustache. It is essential for a man so my friends are laughing at me. Can you please help me?

Answer:  While you may be a late bloomer you should really check this out with your doctor.  It could also result from your racial/genetic inheritance.

QUESTION 8:  Thank you for answering my question on the 15 December re drop in igf-l from 14 to 8 you said you would be interested to know about the level of my hormones my DHEA actually dropped from 7.3 to 4.8 thyroid free t3 stayed at 3.73 for the six months my doctor has increased the thyroid dosage another 30g as I have been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, free testosterone increased to 16, progesterone 3.8 increased, oestradiol stayed at 153,fsh 44.8 homocysteine decreased from 11.3 to 6.7  My TSH over six months went from 1.33 to 1.17 to 1.75,
t4 from 15 to13. Energy level is up and down. I am taking multi v, Q10 and vit.e; doctor has changed the brand of HGH to serona. She said I am making anti-bodies against the scitropin. She did not change the strength still approx 4mg.just change to-day. What do you think?  I had uterus cancer 2 years ago had ovaries removed   Energy has been low since. Cancer specialist put me on Premarin went of that 8 months ago and started the anti-aging program 6 months ago.  Weight is steady at 61 kilo I am 151cm. same weight as I was 2 years ago when I had the operation.

Answer:  Clearly you have a complicated medical history.  It may be time to review your options with regard to your anti-aging doctor.  When undertaking an anti-aging programme it is necessary to adopt a comprehensive strategy and simple hormone replacement therapy of any kind is not enough.  For example you may be suffering from gluten intolerance leading to your thyroiditis.  You may also be suffering from acid/alkali imbalances as well as free radical excess and organ insufficiencies.  Offcourse it is also possible that the type of hormone replacement therapy you are on is inappropriate although it does sound like your anti-aging doctor is giving it her best shot.  Hormones can be extremely difficult to manipulate and often DHEA and thyroid hormone need to be increased but remember that hormones will only operate in your best interests if your cellular health is optimal.
