QUESTION 1:
Do you have any products, which combine tribulus, gingko
biloba and ginseng? Can we take testosterone
everyday? What will happen if we do that?
Can this cause enlargement of the prostate.
How does this affect other hormones via feedback
mechanisms?
Answer:
Unfortunately I know of no products, which combine all
three herbs in one formulation.
When embarking on a course of testosterone it is
advisable to have your levels measured and if these are
low one of the ways that you can increase your body’s
supply of testosterone is to take this hormone. I’m
beginning to realize that it is a good idea to stop
taking testosterone for five days every month to give
your receptors time to recover so that their
responsiveness to this hormone is preserved.
Testosterone on its own probably does not cause
enlargement of the prostate, as it is more likely the
combination of testosterone and the female hormone
oestrogen, which is also made in the male body, which
leads to problems with the prostate.
Having too much testosterone can lower the
body’s production of this hormone and can also
increase growth hormone levels.
When taking testosterone it is very important to
constantly monitor your prostate via a blood test, which
measures the PSA level.
While testosterone does not cause prostate cancer
this hormone can stimulate the growth of a latent cancer
which is a cancer that is just waiting for the
opportunity to start growing.
I’m busy completing a book on this topic so
stay tuned to this space for the release of this book.
QUESTION 2: When taking testosterone what
are the side effects?
Will this cause enlargement of the prostate?
Can this be prevented by taking medications
called ACE-inhibitors used to treat high blood pressure?
I want to discover the secrets of Eternal Health.
How can I get hold of the book that you’ve
written?
Answer: As indicated in the previous answer
taking testosterone might have some effect on the
prostate, which makes it advisable to monitor your
prostate via blood tests when taking this hormone.
Too much testosterone might make you aggressive
as I discovered with one of my patients who found that
he suddenly became far more belligerent when driving in
the city traffic having been a rather polite, docile
driver up to that point.
All this meant was that his dose was too high and
it was quite easy to reduce these unwanted results by
simply reducing his dose.
Testosterone also stimulates red cell production
and you need to ensure that this effect does not become
excessive by having regular blood tests, which measure
your body’s red cell production.
Having too many red cells can make your blood
rather sludgy, which can lead to blockages and serious
health problems. Once
again this should not happen if your doctor is
monitoring your blood count periodically with blood
tests.
ACE-inhibitors
do not minimize the negative effects that testosterone
might have on the prostate.
In fact the contrary is the case as
ACE-inhibitors can have detrimental effects on the
prostate.
