This interview outlined the need for vitamin supplementation
despite the protestations of various nutritionists that
we are getting adequate supplies of essential nutrients
from our food sources.
The point was made that stored fruit and vegetables
are devoid of vital nutrients with poor diets also contributing
to poor nutrition. Daniel drew our attention to a study,
which demonstrated the ability of a simple multivitamin
formulation to improve the non-verbal IQ of a group
of children in a British study.
We then went on to discuss the alternatives to the
conventional medical approach to the winter flu which
embraces preventive inoculation and the new medications,
Tamiflu and Relenza which are not without side-effects
including nausea and exacerbation of emphysema. Alternative
treatments include prevention in the form of vitamin
C, zinc and echinacea and management, which includes
large doses of the herbs andrographis and echinacea.
The herb astragalus was then introduced as a potent
stimulator of the immune system with indications for
the treatment of cancer, hepatitis C and any other disorders
involving chronic immune dysfunction.
